Cheer Clinic

Alexis and the PORTA cheerleaders were able to perform at the last football game this year.  It was so much fun to watch the little girls with the high school cheerleaders. She's in the back row, on the far left

Avery and Aiden had a blast playing in Concord this summer.  They rode 4-wheelers and watched trains and crop dusters go by.

Avery's Graduation

Avery graduated from preschool! It was a very sweet
ceremony. They introduced each student as they walked into the back of the auditorium then they sang several songs before they were declared Graduates.

The first song is too funny. You can tell what parts the kids liked the most; "Hey, hey, hey" and "Hello everybody."  Those are just about the only 2 portions of the song that are understandable. The second song is God Bless America and I love that the kids know every word.  (Not sure why the end is cut off though. Must have accidentally hit a button while recording.)

Cheer clinic

Alexis, once again, attended the PORTA cheer clinic and was able to perform at Saturday's basketball game.  The theme was the Jackson 5 and her age group danced to the song "Rockin Robin." I may be biased but I think she did pretty darn good.

Lexi's Christmas Program

I know Christmas was a month ago but who doesn't like to watch 4th graders sing Christmas songs. Its great anytime of year.

Austin's Christmas band concert was last week.  I'm always so impressed with PORTA's band!

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

Alexis is taking a Jazz dance class.  The teacher held a Watch Week so parents and other family could come watch the class.  They're working on a couple different dances. The first one is to the song Cotton Eye Joe.

Science Museum

We went to Chicago for a mini vacation last month.  The Museum of Science and Industry was our favorite.
The kids enjoyed playing with this light experiment.  Patrick tried his hand at pulling a tablecloth out from under a bunch of dishes.  Unfortunately my camera died on his next attempt and I missed him successfully complete the task.

Harvest Fest was this weekend.  Austin and Alexis both participated in the parade again this year.  Austin marched with the high school band. Alexis was part of a flash mob that was organized by the high school cheerleaders. They did a cheer and a dance at the end of the parade.  She's a little hard to find because so many girls were crowded in the street.  Look for a light blue shirt (most of the girls have a darker blue or white on) and she's left of the girl wearing the white tee with a helmet on it.

Giggly Aiden

Aiden sure likes to laugh!  Both of these videos, which were taken over the summer on two different days, were both spontaneous laughing at odd items.  This first video, he laughs at Alexis shaking a plastic bag.  She just happened to pick up the bag to put some things in it and it made a noise which startled Aiden.  Apparently he thought it was funny so, of course, Alexis had to do it over and over again to keep him laughing.

The second video is Aiden laughing at a paper towel.  I was cleaning up a spill on the floor and the paper towel brushed against his leg.  He giggled so I continued to tickle him with it.  Oh what a silly boy!

I realized today that I hadn't posted videos from PORTA's music fair back in March.  Better late than never, I guess.  These 2 songs are performed by the Junior High Band.  I think they're pretty darn good for Junior High! Please keep in mind they were playing in the gym so the sound/acoustics aren't the best.

Alexis' Cheer Clinic

Alexis had a great time at the recent cheer clinic she attended. It was Justin Bieber themed. They performed a couple cheers, a side line "dance" and a half time dance to Justin Bieber's "Baby." I think Alexis did a great job, especially considering it was a only a 3 day camp.

Austin's Christmas Concert

Porta's music program had a Christmas concert last week. This performance was the first song by Austin and the Jr High band.
Austin's now playing the flute. He decided to switch instruments at the beginning of this school year and chose the flute. His friend Tucker plays it and Austin figured Tucker could help him learn to play, which he has. Thanks Tucker!

PORTA Central's 3rd and 4th grades had their Christmas program Tuesday night. It was called North Pole Musical. The 3rd graders are the choir and the 4th graders have the speaking parts. Alexis is on the first row of bleachers, wearing the Santa hat. The first song is the North Pole Musical theme song.

The second video is called Chillin' It. They've been practicing this since the beginning of October. At Alexis birthday sleepover, the girls sang this song over and over again. It was their favorite song of the program.

Austin marched with the Jr High band and Alexis walked with her Girl Scout troop. Alexis also performed with the High School cheerleaders during their "Remember the BlueJays" themed cheer and dance. This video is the "kick off" of the parade.

Alexis and Poms

This past week Alexis attended a camp held by the PORTA Poms squad. She had a fantastic time! At the football game Friday night, Alexis and the other camp goers performed at half time. She starts off behind the instructor in case you have a hard time finding her. I apologize for the beginning of the video, its pretty shaky.
